Trombone Quartets

A Little Black Dress

A Little Black Dress is a beautiful trombone quartet and is deceptively challenging. The notes on the parts may look simple enough but performing the interwoven lines with the intended feel and lyricism is not easy.

It will, however, be well worth your effort to bring this sultry quartet to life.

Pensive

Pensive is a beautiful medium tempo ballad that weaves flowing melodic lines throughout each of the four parts. Careful attention to dynamics will really make this piece sing.  The lead trombone goes briefly to high C only three times, making this easily playable for most intermediate to advanced players.

And Hallelujah

And Hallelujah starts out as duel duets between trombones 3 & 4 and 1 & 2, and then the piece eventually brings the top three horns together for an interplay with the bass trombone. Bass trombone players will enjoy the independence and challenge of that low part.

Thang

Thang is a funky arrangement for four trombones, and provides for some laid back grooving throughout some cool rhythmic interplay between the horns. Keeping the time and groove in this fun tune is the challenge.

The range is moderate, going up in the lead part to high Bb only twice.
